Located along the beautiful shores of Lake Chatuge in the North Georgia Mountains in the rustic community of Hiawassee, the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds hosts the wonderful Georgia Mountain Fair and Georgia Mountain Fall Festival each year.

The first Georgia Mountain Fair was held in Hiawassee in 1950. Word quickly spread and this excellent and unique event has grown to host between 200,000 and 400,000 visitors annually! This many people cannot be wrong!

The Towns County Lions Club and fair representatives purchased a large, wooded area next to picturesque Lake Chatuge with its tree lined and red clay shores that are a photographer's dream. The area includes a 189 sites for camping and RVs for overnight guests and the Hamilton Rhododendron Gardens which has the largest collection of hybrid rhododendrons in the state.

Gentle sloping paved paths, tree-lined walkways and down-home feel make the Georgia Mountain Fair and Georgia Mountain Fall Festival a uniquely enjoyable experience. (Be sure to bring your camera if you visit the Fall Festival because the changing colors of the leaves are breathtaking.)

Pioneer Village offers you a casual stroll through a one-room schoolhouse, a general store, a blacksmith shop, a repair shop, a timber-cutting shop, and live demonstrations that include soap making, hominy making, quilt sewing, and blacksmithing.

More than 60 permanent craft booths are scattered along the paved walkways. The exhibit hall features antique machinery and historical artifacts from the area. Solo musicians and bluegrass groups seem to be on every porch and corner performing for delighted crowds.

The Anderson Music Hall is a 2900 seat theater that has hosted countless country music legends from Willie Nelson to Rascal Flats for over thirty years. 2010 performers included George Jones, Travis Tritt, and Sara Evans.

The Georgia Mountain Fair will is held each July.
The Georgia Mountain Fall Festival is held each October.
