* After creating a wonderful men's resort in St Petersburg, Florida, you launched the Casa Del Merman at GayMontanita House in Montanita, Ecuador. How did that all come about?
The resort is called Casa Del Merman at GayMontanita House, it is clothing optional, has hammocks, chairs, massage table, courtesy bar and kitchen - all poolside. It's about 2500 feet from the party town center and the beach. It’s a quiet neighborhood so you can sleep. * What kind of amenities does Casa Del Merman at GayMontanita House have?’
The resort has 20 rooms, heated pool, massage table, community kitchen and bar. Standard rooms have private bath and AC. Deluxe rooms have smart tv. Deluxe Plus have mini-fridge and queen bed.
* How does a potential guest travel to Montanita?
Flights go to Guayaquil (GYE) and we can arrange a taxi, usually $85 one way, or van $120 depending how many people are traveling together, Once in town, almost everything is walkable or a $1.50 taxi ride. We don't recommend renting a car. For seasoned travelers, there is a direct bus from Guayaquil to Montanita for $7. American Airlines has the best connections through Miami. Fort Lauderdale also has JetBlue and Spirit, but the layovers in arrival times are not great. Copa Airlines connects through Panama City.
* Can you tell us about any special events planned for 2023?
Carnaval is coming up Feb 18-21. Montanita Pride is June29-July3. Montanita Bear Week is Aug 16-22. We have a large group going April 12-19 and New Years is always a blast on the beach.
* What are your plans for the future?
We plan to add 25-30 condominiums on the property which will become part of the nightly rental options. A mix of 1 bedroom 1 bath units as well as 2 bedroom 2 bath units will be affordably priced with low fees and taxes.
